China is not pleased with the massive protests in Hong Kong against a controversial extradition law.
A spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that in the Admiralty neighbourhood “there was no peaceful manifestation, but a riot organized by a group.”
Hong Kong police applied tear gas and rubber bullets on Wednesday to disperse demonstrators.
They demonstrated against a bill that should make it possible to extradite suspects to China. Beijing expressed support on Thursday for the way the Hong Kong authorities have intervened.
